Overview

Welcome to the Interim Joint Matriculation Board (IJMB) Program at Kindawaz Academy

The IJMB program at Kindawaz Academy is your gateway to securing direct entry admission into 200-level courses in Nigerian universities. This one-year advanced level program is recognized nationwide and provides an excellent alternative for students aiming to bypass the traditional UTME route. Here’s everything you need to know about our IJMB program:

What is IJMBE?

The Interim Joint Matriculation Board Examination (IJMBE) is an advanced level program moderated by Ahmadu Bello University and coordinated by various tertiary institutions and affiliated study centers nationwide. The program is designed to provide an opportunity for candidates who cannot gain admission to regular degree programs in Nigerian universities. IJMBE only requires candidates to have their O’level results, and even those awaiting results can enroll.

Approved: Recognized by the Federal Government as a platform for securing admission into higher institutions in Nigeria and abroad.

Proven: Annually, about 20,000 applicants enroll in the program, with more than 70% successfully securing admission into 200-level courses in their preferred institutions and fields of study.

Certified: Endorsed by the Nigeria University Commission (NUC) as an advanced level examination that qualifies students for 200-level admission via Direct Entry.

How IJMBE Works

  1. Subject Combination: Prospective IJMBE candidates select any three A/L IJMBE subjects that align with their preferred university course of study in the sciences, arts, or social sciences.

  2. Lectures and Examination: Candidates attend lectures for the stipulated period (9-12 months) at their chosen study centers. After completing the coursework, they sit for the final examination.

  3. Direct Entry Admission: Successful candidates use their IJMBE certificates to secure admission into 200-level in any Nigerian tertiary institution via Direct Entry.

IJMBE A’level Examination Subjects

Candidates should ensure their subject combinations meet the requirements for admission into degree programs in the Arts, Social Sciences, Management Sciences, and Sciences courses in all IJMBE-affiliated universities in Nigeria.

Options/Fields and Subject Combinations:

  • Arts & Humanities: Christian Religious Studies, French, History, Igbo, Arabic, Islamic Religious Studies, Literature-in-English, Music, Visual Arts, Yoruba.
  • Management & Social Sciences: Accounting, Business Management, Economics, Sociology, Government.
  • Sciences: Agricultural Science, Biology, Geography, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics.

IJMBE O’level Examination Subjects

The Ordinary Level examination is designed to remedy deficiencies in English Language and Mathematics at the same level in WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, or Cambridge (CIE) results. Students with deficiencies in O’Level English Language and Mathematics can sit for these subjects. Candidates can register for one or both O’Level subjects based on their deficiencies.

  • Ordinary Level English Language
  • Ordinary Level Mathematics

IJMBE Grades and Points

Your academic efforts are graded and converted into points at the end of your program:

IJMBE Program Duration

The IJMBE A’level program runs for a maximum period of one academic session (9-12 months), divided into two semesters.

IJMBE Eligibility

The program is open to all interested candidates nationwide, and any course can be offered, whether it be in Science, Arts, or Social Sciences.

IJMBE Legibility / Universities Accepting IJMBE

The IJMBE certificate is presently recognized and accepted in more than 80% of Nigerian federal, state, and private universities. The Federal Government, through its various educational agencies, recognizes IJMBE as an examining body for both Ordinary and Advanced Level Examinations. The syllabus is approved by the National Education Research and Development Council (NERDC), and the IJMBE examination results are listed among the acceptable modes of entry in the JAMB brochure. Additionally, some foreign universities accept IJMBE.
